- Callout: Short pool — Wheeler Dam tailwater is the signature node when upstream units and Wilson’s own schedule stack current. Soft yellowtail / current-seam SMB language only with dam safety (no hazardous discharge coaching). Main-lake docks/bluffs still matter on low-light.
Pickwick (TVA PICT1 · AL focus, tri-state aware)

Bass life stage
Late summer → early fall transition on the Alabama TVA stairway. Nights are still warm (lows ~72–74°F), so this is not a full fall creek-run yet — more shad-oriented summer leftovers meeting the first schooling / creek-mouth hints of September. Largemouth still relate to Guntersville grass; spotted/Alabama bass and smallmouth lean on current, rock, and river ledges (Wilson–Pickwick Shoals identity especially). Spawn is long over; winter pattern is weeks away.
How to fish (bass)

- Threadfin and gizzard shad — primary bass forage now (creek mouths, grass edges, current seams, schooling surface activity at dawn). Match with white/chrome/chartreuse shad profiles.
